This is different then regular blackjack where the player to the left of the dealer always gets the first card.

If the tournament is set for 25 hands per round then every player will compete in 25 hands and generally the 1st and 2nd place player’s move onto the next round.
Once a round has completed and the hands are done for that round the players who advanced in the tournament will move to a new table where a new round begins. When the new round begins all the players on the table start with the same amount of chips so if you did really well the first round it won’t help you out in the second round. This is to keep the tournament competitive throughout later rounds in the tournaments and I believe it’s the best structure to have.
Blackjack tournaments allow you to play blackjack against other players rather then the house and many poker players enjoy this structure better. A lot of people don’t like playing against the house because they always have an advantage, but in blackjack tournaments you don’t need to worry about this since you’re playing other players and not the house. The casino makes money by charging every player a small fee for hosting the tournament, but the prize pool is paid out in full to the winner of the event.
